Little White Striped Dress

What I Wore: Dress - H&M, Shoes - old White Mountain (similar), Necklace - Kate Spade New York, Earrings - similar, Lipstick - MAC "Brick-o-la"

There is something about a beautiful summer day and a light-weight white dress that just feels so right. Add some navy stripes, three sweet buttons up the back, and a waist line that isn't too loose or too tight and I'm in dress heaven (which is my favorite kind). I guess summer clothes aren't all that bad after all.

What I Wore: Jumpsuit - Lucky Brand, Wedges: old White Mountain (similar), Bag: Madewell

This post is a long time in the making. When jumpsuits came into style I searched high and low for one that would fit me, I'm quite tall (about 6 feet with in these shoes) and have an abnormally long torso, but never had much success. While I was home for a few weeks at the beginning of May I was in TJ Maxx picking up some things now for my new house and stumbled upon this jumpsuit hanging on the racks. I immediately fell in love with the print and cut of it but because of my experiences with one-pieces in the past I had a sinking feeling that I shouldn't even try it on (I once ripped a romper while trying it on at a store, oops!). But after some coaxing from my mom I took it to the dressing room, tried it on, and was utterly dumbfounded when it fit. After that there was absolutely no question as to whether or not it was going home with me. Not having clothes fit the way you want can be so discouraging because it can often make you feel like you and your body are at fault. I can't buy shorts from this store because my thighs are too big and I can't wear this one-size-fits-all dress because I'm too tall. Bullshit. It's the designer's fault, every time. Because what's the point of putting thought into getting dressed every morning if it's not to make you feel great? But that's just my two cents.

Good Jeans

There is something to be said about finding a good pair of jeans, I honestly can't remember the last time I owned a pair of light wash jeans. I think by the time I entered high school I had sworn them off completely and was wearing only the darkest of washes, and since I wear jeans so seldom I've never been one to collect a lot of different pairs - I like to stick to the basics. The reason I dislike jeans so much is mostly because I find them incredibly uncomfortable and unflattering, something that I think is a fairly common sentiment for a lot of women. And don't even get me started on shopping for jeans, trying to find a pair that fits in all the right places is something I attempt only about two times year because I hate it so much. But recently I feel I've had a bit of a change of heart - when I saw this pair of light wash boyfriend-ish jeans hanging in Loft I felt like if anything was going to make me like light wash jeans it was going to be this pair of pants. So I tried them on and they were so soft and fit really really well and were pretty flattering and now here we are. It's hard for me to not buy something that makes me feel as good as I did when I tried these on. Watch this space for more posts of different ways I style them in the upcoming warmer months!

The Perfect Saturday

I call this post 'the perfect saturday' because the Saturday that I wore this outfit was spent eating brunch at Screen Door with some of my most favorite people in the world on a beautiful sunny day - and we all know that anything that includes the world "brunch" is perfect in my eyes *insert heart eyes emoji*. It feels weird saying this, but it's actually been too warm for me to wear this jacket very much since I got back to school, and it was too cold to wear it back home, so I was really thankful for the perfect jacket wearing weather that Saturday gave me. I loved being able to snuggle down into the faux fir collar while walking around Portland in the chilly sunshine. Underneath I wore a pretty classic outfit for me, striped shirt + the only pair of jeans I don't hate + ankle boots - because on weekends comfort and simplicity dominates all of my clothing choices.
