Pretty Simple

What I Wore: [Top: French Connection, Jeans: Gap, Shoes: Bass, Necklace: Kate Spade New York]

Ah, Portland - it's so nice to finally be back. After nine long months of being abroad and then being home for summer I returned back to campus last Sunday, and as overwhelming the last few days have been I couldn't be more happy to be back at school surrounded by all of my wonderful friends in this city that I hold so dearly to my heart. (Side Note: How am I a junior? I still feel like a scared freshman at least once or twice a day) On Wednesday I was able to convince one of my closest friends and roommate this year, Morgan, to take a few quick snaps of my outfit that afternoon after out classes were done. I feel lucky that my campus is in a such a beautiful area for many reasons, not the least of the which is that it provides for an abundance of easily accessible photographing locations - such as the drive-way of a swanky neighboring house. I hope to be able to put them all to good use this year! So yes, I wore this outfit on my second day of classes. It was comfortable and breezy and simple and made me feel like me. This shirt was such a find too, I found it before I left for school for only $20 - gotta love T.J. Maxx.

Happy Thursday!

Dresses in the Desert

What I Wore: [Wrap Dress: H&M, Shoes: Bass via DSW, Earrings: homemade]

This past Friday I dragged myself out of bed at 3:30 am and headed to the airport to go surprise my best friend, Ali, with a little weekend visit. Ali and I have been best friends since the first grade (that makes it 14 years!) but for the past 4 years she has been living in Arizona, which means we only get to see each other once a year, twice if we are lucky. About six months ago her boyfriend, Dominic, and I started hatching a plan for me to come down and surprise her and I'm proud to say it went off without a hitch! It was so lovely to get to spend a few days with Ali that were filled with catching up on everything, eating fantastic Mexican food, hanging out with her dog Tank (pictured below), doing a bit of shopping, and me sweating a lot.

As for clothing I kept things simple and light, as my main focus of the weekend was spending time with my best friend. Since I am a true Minnesotan and my max tolerable temperature is about 85 degrees - the only time I am ever in temperatures higher than that are my weekly hour long hot yoga classes - wearing this super light wrap dress was a great choice for the 100+ degree Tucson days. These photos were taken during a fleeting moment of me not looking like a hot, sweaty, mess.

Tank is the new love of my life, just look at that face!

Beautiful sunset on my last night in town.
Ali's dress is from Express and shoes are from American Eagle

Sunflares

What I Wore: [Top: Target, Shorts: Old Navy, Sandals: Boss via DSW, Necklace: old from Francesca's - similar, Lips: Clinique Chubby Stick in "Chunky Cherry"]

Another day, another attempt at trying to take outfit photos by myself (today I had about a medium level of success). Anyway, even if I don't totally love the way the photos turned out I really do love this outfit. It is so dang comfy! I am so into this trend of "clothes, mainly pants/shorts, that feel like pajamas but only kind of look like them" which these shorts definitely are. I picked up both the top and shorts while wandering around the mall and trying not to buy anything last week (they were both on sale so it was okay!) and already know they are going to be in heavy rotation this summer. So many of the things I have in my closet back home are the clothing items that I didn't like enough to bring to college, i.e skintight graphic v-necks with stupid sayings on them and six too many peasant tops, so whenever I get something new I want to wear it way more than I should. It's the same with these sandals, I have a feeling they are going to be featured in about 80% of my posts during this summer.

Anyway, that's what I wore. I'll probably wear it again soon. Thanks for stopping by!

The Perfect Pair

What I Wore: [Top: Anthropologie, Skirt: American Apparel, Shoes: Bass via DSW, Bag: TJ Maxx]

You know those outfits you have that you just put on and never want to take off because you feel so great in them? This is mine. It's 100% my style, extremely comfortable, and works perfectly with my body type. I also love this look a little bit more than usual because my hair is now (finally!) long enough to put up into a tiny top-knot! Because of my 17 years of being a dancer I think having my hair up in a bun is just always going to be the most comfortable and natural style for me. This look was perfect for a day full of running around town and checking things off my extremely long to do list, but I've also worn it during a long day of classes and for nicer occasions with a pair of wedges instead of my flat sandals. You've gotta love versatility!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend ahead of you - mine will be filled with breaking in my new running shoes, seeing "The Fault In Our Stars", some hot yoga, and plenty of sleeping in :)

Thanks for stopping by!
