Who is this girl and why am I reading her blog?

It’s high time that I formally introduce myself, so here we go.

Hello, my name is Eva and I’m 19 years oldI have an unconditional love for cupcakes and polkadots, am in my first year of college, and love getting dressed up (the picture above is of me on the night of my senior prom)

I was born and raised in northern Minnesota but when it came time to choose a college I decided to spread my wings and head west, to Portland OR. Although I love the city and the Pacific Northwest, Minnesota will always hold my heart.

I have been a dancer since the age of 3 and have been singing, seriously that is, since the 6th grade. Above are some pictures of me performing during my senior year of high school and my freshman year of college.

I love to travel and have been lucky enough to see a good handful of beautiful places, here I am leaning against the Berlin Wall and laying on a beach in Puerto Rico. Places on my bucket list are Iceland, Greece, Spain, and Thailand.

I love food, all kinds of food (although sweets are definitely my favorite), making it and eating it. I can promise that you will never see me on a diet, I love ice cream far too much.

And finally, I love all warm fuzzy soft things that cuddle with you (bunnies, cats, dogs, etc.), here are some pictures of the love my live. Her name is Rory and she is my sisters cat, which means we have to struggle through a long distance relationship, but it’s worth it!

So, that’s a bit of me, but if you want to know more or have questions my ask box is always open! I’ll probably make another one of these posts in a bit about some of my favorite things (music, movies, books, designers, television shows) but until then I hope this suffices for a little look into my world :)

Talk to you all soon,

-Eva

On Saturday Morgan and I wandered through the entire Pearl District in search of a coffee shop to do homework in, this polka dot sweater was the perfect thing to wear for walking around in the cool air and curling up to do homework and sip hot drinks.

How To: Milkmaid Braids

This is a hair style that I wear all the time and every time I do I get questions on how I do it, so here is a step by step guide to creating this simple lazy-day hairstyle :)Step 1: Start with brushed out hair, I usually do this with second day hair, so it’s best to refresh it with some dry shampoo. Step 2: Part your hair however you like and do two regular braids, securing them with clear elastic bands. I like to then loosen the braids up a little to make my hair appear thicker (this will help later to hide bobby pins)

Step 3: One by one, fold your braids onto of your head and pin them into place. You may have to work with them for a little bit to get everything to lay flat and look nice, I like to try and tuck the ends of the braids under each other and hide the pins as much as I can for more seamless look.

Step 4: Last, just lightly spray some hairspray to avoid too many flyaways and make sure that things are secure enough to last the whole day. Then you’re done! You have now created a hairstyle that looks far more complicated than it actually is!

Happy Braiding :)

One Skirt, Two Ways

So this skirt I found thrifting at Buffalo Exchange a few months ago, it’s a black wool pleated Tory Burch skirt from a few seasons ago that would have originally sold for $250! I bought this one for $25 and then took it to a tailor because it was two sizes to big for me, she brought in the waist and made it a bit shorter and now it fits perfectly. This is such a classic piece that can be worn tons of different ways and I am so glad I found it at such an amazing price! Here is an example of how I recently transitioned this piece from a daytime look to an evening look:What I Wore [Top: Anthropologie, Shoes: Vila]

I loved this outfit for class on Friday, the sun was shining in Portland and it was finally warm enough to go without tights! The skirt is also the perfect length for busy days (and being tall) because I don’t have to worry about my butt hanging out when I am running from class to class all day!

What I Wore [Blouse: Forever 21, Cami: Kohls, Heels: Marc by Marc Jacobs, Earrings: Discount Dance Supply]

In the evening I went out with some friends to a cool Vietnamese restaurant in the city to celebrate surviving our first full week of the new semester and I loved that I was able to transition this piece from day to evening. All I had to do was put on a different shirt, throw on some heels, and twist up my hair and I was ready to go :)

Thanks for stoping by!
